About this property

Welcome to Bungalows Lydia

Perched on a jungle hillside above two secluded Pacific Ocean beaches, Bungalows Lydia offers a tranquil retreat in a cluster of breezy suites with ocean views. The property features an infinity pool and access to two private beaches, making it appealing for guests seeking peace and natural surroundings rather than a full resort experience.

Each bungalow includes a kitchenette and air conditioning, providing practical comforts for a self-sufficient stay. While amenities such as free Wi-Fi, free parking, and hot tub facilities are available, there is no airport shuttle, fitness center, or room service on site. Visitors should note that the property is family-run, with owners living on-site, fostering a welcoming atmosphere but without traditional hotel services.

The location is ideal for travelers who appreciate privacy and nature, yet still want to explore nearby highlights like Riviera Nayarit, Sayulita Beach, and Playa San Pancho. These popular destinations offer beaches, archaeological sites, and vibrant local culture within a reasonable drive. Guests often recommend renting a vehicle or scooter, as the hotel is about 4 km from the village center and Highway 200.

Reviewers praise the stunning ocean views, private beach access, and peaceful setting; however, some mention the rough surf and that the hotel has many stairs, which may be challenging for some visitors. The property suits those comfortable with a quieter, more rustic lodging style where cash payments are preferred and dining or additional amenities require venturing into town.

Gorgeous hotel with incredible ocean views. Private beach but surf too strong for us reasonable swimmers. Lots of stairs.

Wow. What a perfect place. Incredibly beautiful spot, so private, pristine, magical. Very clean and pretty rooms. Much nicer than the website. I looked at so many places to stay in San Pancho and I’m so grateful we chose Lydia. So much more beautiful, relaxing, awe inspiring than the bustling places in town with no ocean view or beach access. Plus Lydia’s family was so welcoming, made us feel so safe and welcomed.

This was our second time, and we loved it again! We learned from our previous year to rent a golfcart, or other transportation to and from the property to town. The location is a hidden gem, with the views and the sound of crashing waves taking center stage. As a boutique hotel, we communicated primarily with Ruben via email and WhatsApp, and he was very responsive, respectful, and helpful. He answered my many questions and concerns, always in a timely manner. We absolutely recommend this place, and thank you to Ruben for making our stay from airport to airport seemless.

You couldn’t ask for a better view or more private beach experience. We had several pool and beach days all to ourselves. The sunsets and views of the humpback whales that are migrating are breathtaking. This location is 10 stars and you won’t be disappointed

This is a little slice of heaven on earth. It’s removed from the town so it’s very peaceful. Each room is equipped with a kitchenette and has a view of an outdoor space. Aside from the room and the small pool, and the views, there are no amenities. Come prepared or be ready to make trips into town for coffee and food. This place is family run and they live on site therefore it’s not suitable for everyone. In this part of Mexico, cash is king, be prepared to pay with cash at most places, even hotels and lodging prefer it. This is not an American, five star hotel. It’s a set of bungalows on a cliff side where everything is cared for and loved by a family and their employees. There is no room service or turndown service or concierge. If that’s your vibe- check out the st. Regis in punta mita, a few towns over! For peace and tranquility, Lydia’s is the most special place. I know I will be back for years to come.

Lydia’s space is special. The beaches are sublime and private. The ocean sounds become a relaxing backdrop over time. The location and connection to the ocean is the experience. The owners take care of you here, not employees. They care. My wife and I celebrated our 40th anniversary here. It was wonderful. Frankly the complaints registered by some of the reviews are juvenile..... Enjoy the space and experience.

We stayed at Bungalows Lydia during the Christmas holiday, and even though it’s one of the busiest travel times, it felt like we had the place to ourselves. The views are breathtaking — panoramic ocean stretching out in front of you, with barely anyone on the beach. I was able to sit and read, looking out over the water, totally peaceful and quiet. At night, we slept to the sound of the waves — no background noise, no crowds, just the ocean. It’s not a typical hotel with full amenities, but it doesn’t need to be. There’s a kitchen, and it’s easy to pick up groceries in town (only about a 10-minute scooter ride). We rented a scooter and it was perfect for coming and going — golf carts are also an option, but for two people the scooter was ideal. San Pancho itself has amazing restaurants and a great local vibe, and Bungalows Lydia gives you this feeling of being tucked away in a private paradise while still being close enough to everything. Lydia and her son Gabriel are incredibly kind and welcoming — you really feel like you’re staying somewhere special. We’re already planning our next trip. One note is that the ocean water here can be a little rough — there are times of day when it’s calmer and swimmable, but it’s definitely something to be aware of, especially if you’re hoping for gentle waves. There were locals and kids that we saw swimming in the mornings.

Incredible spot. We stayed in the Sunset suite which was so beautiful and the bed was a lot comfier than we were expecting. The resort overall didn’t have much in terms of amenities so definitely come with food/drinks or be prepared to drive into town (also fun). The connected beaches were beautiful and 99% empty. Be warned of the loud waves at night - sounds like a war. May need earplugs!
